Dorothy L. Fetter

May 5, 1922 — January 15, 2015

Dorothy L. Fetter, 92, of Belden Road, Bedford went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family, on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at her residence.  She was born on May 5, 1922, in Bedford, a daughter of the late, Harry A. and Clara (DeVore) Shaffer.  On December 14, 1945, in Bedford, she married Dale R. Fetter, her husband of 69 years, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, Roberta Lorraine wife of Richard Holt, of Nyack, NY, son, Dean L. Fetter, married to the former Sandra M. Spade, of Everett, son Richard L. Fetter, and fiancée Judy Hillegas, of New Paris, daughter, Debra K. wife of Edward Snowden, of Collegeville, son, Russell E. “Rusty” Fetter, of Bedford, and daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” wife of Lynn Whetstone, of Bedford; eight grandchildren: Christy Hall, Andrew Fetter, Kerri LeCrone, Brent Fetter, Allison and Jillian Snowden, Tyler Fetter, and Misti Lehman; nine great-grandchildren; and one grand-dog Diesel. She was preceded in death by two brothers: John Shaffer, and Harry “Jr” Shaffer, and three sisters: Mary Kathryn Shafer, Arvilla May, and Alberta Fillo.

Mrs. Fetter attended grammer school at the Crossroads School House in Belden and graduated from Bedford High School, class of 1941. She then attended Lindon Hall Junior College in Lititz, PA.  She owned and operated with her husband the Belden Country Store and Gas Station for over 30 years. Mrs. Fetter was a Charter Member of the Pennwood Bible Church, a Junior Church Teacher, associated with the Women’s Missionary Group, Ladies Quilting Group, and took care of the food preparation for church functions. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed on a tremendous wealth of faith on to her family.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at the Pennwood Bible Church, with Rev. Floyd Rinehart, officiating.  Burial at St. Paul’s Reformed Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Saturday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Timothy A.
