Dorothy G. (Dottie) Clapper

Dorothy G. “Dottie” Clapper 89, of Bedford, died Saturday, April 1, 2023.  Dottie  was like a good watch, all gold, open-faced, well regulated, dependable, and filled with good works.  Because she knew and believed the Gospel of Christ she is now in Heaven. She was born on December 4, 1933 in Bedford a daughter of the late Sherman and Etta (Growden) Hite.  On June 19, 1952 in Winchester, VA she married David R. Clapper who preceded her in death on January 30, 2019.  She is survived by five children: David E. Clapper and wife Lisa, of Carlisle, John Clapper and wife Maura, of Bedford, Larry Clapper, of Schwenksville, Michael Clapper and wife Patty, of Dover, DE, and Jeffrey Clapper and wife Joleen, of Bedford; 15 grandchildren: Kerri, Josh, Matt, Johnny, Sarah, Jamie, Levi, Simon, Codi, Ethan, Joseph, Tom, Shawn, Jacob, and Kateri; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Dottie was one of eight children, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Dottie was a member of the Pleasant Hill Bible Church, Bedford Lioness Club, and Bedford Republican Woman.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at the Pleasant Hill Bible Church, 2793 Briar Valley Road, Bedford, with Pastor Deken George officiating.  Burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
