Doris O. Turner, 79, of Whispering Pines Lane, Bedford, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her home. She was born September 6, 1931 in Bedford, daughter of the late Kenneth and Hazel (Wilcox) Tice. On July 8, 1951 at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, she married Blair A. Turner, and he survives along with a daughter Lisa D. wife of Bruce Shankle of Schellsburg, and two grandchildren; Derek and Karah Wertz. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Kenneth Tice and Dr. Harold Tice, husband of Zilphia Tice of Bedford.
Doris was a 1949 graduate of Bedford High School. She was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, the Fort Bedford Antique Car Club and the Guild of Handcrafted Candles. She was the owner of Candles and Things, and prior to that had worked as a secretary for Howard Johnsons. She loved butterflies and frogs, and enjoyed collecting bells, angles and Maude Humphrey dolls. She also enjoyed going to antique care cruise-ins with her husband.
Funeral services: Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Doug Friant officiating.
