Doris M. (Mitchell) Way-Weaverling

Doris M. Way-Weaverling, 86, of Fishertown, died on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on April 17, 1937 in New Paris, a daughter of the late Harry and Arlene (Ickes) Mitchell. She is survived by the following family: two daughters, Vickie Sellers widow of Joe of Bedford; Kitty Ellis and husband William of Hollidaysburg; a son, Thomas Way and wife Hilda of Bedford; four grandchildren:  Jeremy Sellers, Kevin Spiker, Vanessa Way, and Thomas “T.J.” Way Jr.; three step-grandchildren:  Kimberley Walker, Julie Guyer, and Katrina Ellis; two sisters: Shirley Mock of New Paris and Janet Lindsey of Altoona. She was preceded in death by three brothers:  Orlo Claycomb, Elvador Mitchell and Byron Mitchell; and one sister, Phyllis Imler.

Doris was a very active member that also sang in the choir at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. She started working as a waitress at Ed’s Steakhouse and then spent most of her time working at the Arena.  Doris was very musical in school.  She played the cello in the orchestra and would sing with her sister on the radio.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Dan Oldham officiating.  Burial at Fishertown Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 10 -12 p.m.  at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Doris’s name to Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, P.O.
