Doris Jean (Harclerode) Phillips

Doris Jean Phillips, 93, of Johnstown died on Saturday September 10, 2022 at Harmony House Manor in Johnstown. She was born on February 11, 1929, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Harper I. and Margaret (Burkett) Harclerode.  She married Francis J. Phillips Jr. and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1985. She is survived by a son Michael L. Phillips of Bedford, two grandchildren:  Kelley Phillips of Bedford, and Brigetta Pieper of Springfield, IL; seven great-grandchildren, and a friend and caretaker Deb Suder of Bedford.   She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Imler.

Doris Jean graduated from Bedford High School in 1948 and was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Bedford. She worked as a dispatcher for Bedford Ambulance from 1971 - 1978 and was the Bedford Borough Tax Collector from 1985 - 1994. She enjoyed Baking and her flowers.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Brady Plummer officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.   Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Doris Jean’s name to St. John’s UCC, 144 West John Street, Bedford, PA 15522.
