Doris C. Fisher

Doris Caroline Fisher was born August 11, 1932 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania to Ross and Emily Moorhead. Doris’s siblings: John Moorhead, Helen Creighton and Wilma Jean Corle are all deceased. Doris, who answered to Hun, Mom, Grandma and Snookie, left this body to be joined to both her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her beloved husband, Stanley, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2025.

Doris briefly worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company following her graduation from Bedford High School. She married the love of her life on August 17,1952. For the next 73 years of marriage, she devoted her life to the tasks of running their home and raising three children: son Jeff (Kathy), son Andy and daughter Beth Ann (Larry). They were blessed additionally with five grandchildren: Suzanna (Troy), Brian, Becca (Derrick), Jenny (Adam) and Eddie (Jamie), as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.

It was during her battle these past several weeks that Doris’s special angels, Suzanna, Brian, Becca and Jenny sacrificially devoted their time and love to be there to constantly care for their grandmother. Doris courageously and confidently faced death knowing as Romans 8:38-39 says, nothing could separate her from the love of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift we celebrate this Christmas.

Even though both Stanley and Doris fondly remembered their Myrtle Beach vacations, they have now made the greatest trip ever as they are now together in the presence of their Lord.

Stanley and Doris were members of St. Paul’s Reformed Church and later Bedford Bible Church.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cole Miller and his staff at UPMC Primary Care, for their compassion and help above and beyond during this time. Doris will be buried in a private service surrounded by family.
