Donald A. Whetstone, 74, of Preston Street, Bedford, died, Sunday, February 15, 2015, in the comfort of his own home. He was born on February 25, 1940, in Rainsburg, a son of the late Allen and Ruth (Baker) Whetstone. On August 11, 1960, in Cumberland, MD, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. (Wolfhope) Whetstone, who survives along with the following family: a son, Wayne A. Whetstone of Bedford, a great-nephew, who Don and Patricia raised, Tobias D. Christofic, of Bedford, sister Nancy wife of Jim Ellenberger, of Cessna, and several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Whetstone was a 1957 graduate of Bedford High School, and retired in 2001, after 34 years, from the PA Turnpike. He was an avid bowler and softball player, and enjoyed watching softball after he couldn’t play anymore. He also was a fan of going to the go-kart races with Wayne and Tobias.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A, Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Paul Claycomb, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
