Donald R. “Donnie” Putt 73, of McCoy Lane, New Paris, PA, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his home. He was born May 8, 1936 in Harrisburg, son of the late Frank and Sarah (Rudy) Putt. On January 29, 1982 in Rochester, NY, he married Evelyn J. Smith and she survives along with his first wife Rosemary (Wehner) Nissen and the following children: Richard Putt and wife Robin of Henrietta, NY, William Putt and wife Margie of Spencerport, NY, Kevin Putt and wife Frances of Manheim, Bryan Putt and wife Denise of Brockport, NY, James Putt and Campanion Jamie Fleetwood, whom he loved like a daughter, a daughter Dawn Putt and companion Mike Boggs, whom he loved like a son, both of Bedford. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, three great grand-children and a sister, Betty Eslinger of Enola and many nieces and nephews.
He was raised by the late Ruth (Putt) Conlon and her late husband, Lloyd. He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Thelma, Augustus, Ray, Margaret Bricker, Robert, Ruth Conlon, Dorothy Kauffman, John “Jack”, Frank, Bill and Harry.
He helped his sister Ruth, and her husband, Lloyd, farm in Friends Cove for many years before moving to Rochester NY, where he was a terminal manager, then moved back to help care for Ruth and Lloyd. He worked at Tri-county Bulk Milk Haulers before he had open heart Surgery in 1995. He enjoyed keeping himself busy, cooking, crocheting and being in the company of his grandson, Austin and his dog, Peanut. Donald has donated his body to Science and a memorial service will be held at a later time
