Donald G. Leach, 81, of S. Bedford St., Bedford, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born September 13, 1929 in Everett, son of the late Chester Guy and Anna Mae (Cottle) Leach. On August 14, 1954 in Loysburg he married Alice Joan Bayer and she survives along with two daughters; Nanette J. wife of Joseph Schnably and Theresa L. wife of John P. Montgomery, both of Bedford, three grandsons; Rylan, Austin and Seth, two sisters; Catherine Shimer and Evelyn Allman both of Everett.
Mr. Leach was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church and the Bedford American Legion. He was a retired self-employed general contractor. He loved woodworking and gardening, and was an avid sports fan, especially on the local level. He enjoyed dirt track car racing and was a former driver of car #2. He also loved being with his three grandsons.
Funeral Services: Monday July 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating. Burial at the Salemville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
