Denver C. Yokum

Clearville

Denver C. Yokum 86, of Clearville, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on January 28, 1933 in Chaneysville, a son of the late John W. and Lettie (Judy) Yokum.  On September 8, 1971 in Everett, he married Bonnie (Miller) Yokum who survives along with the following family: a daughter, Lettie L. Restly and husband Jim, of New Baltimore, a son, Dennis D. Yokum and wife Deborah, of Bedford, a son Lynford L. Yokum of Centerville, a daughter Lisa Lehman and husband Richard, of Somerset, a daughter, Tona L. Tissue and husband Chuck, of West Newton, and a son Stephen P. Yokum and wife Erin, of Bedford; eleven grandchildren: Jason Restly, Marcy Zembower, and husband Jeff, Peg Dibert and husband Brad, Dennis Yokum Jr., Deana Yokum, Carrie Fredrick and husband Adam, Jasmine Blough and husband Patrick, JR Lehman, Angie Tissue, and Jacob Yokum and Emily Yokum; and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Denver D. Yokum, a grandson, Jimmy Restly, two sisters: Nellie Phillips and Rachel Leasure, and three brothers: Lemuel, Richard, and John Yokum.

Denver was a 1950 graduate of Everett High School and a Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Way from 1950 to 1953.  He was a self-employed truck driver for over 65 years, mostly self-employed.   He also drove for NES&L, Eugene Morral, Wilson Freight, H. Eugene Koontz Bulk Milk Transport, and for his son Dennis Yokum Sr.. He enjoyed hunting, morel mushroom hunting, gardening, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and family reunions.  Denver was a member of the NRA and OOIDA.  The family wishes to extend their thanks to Grane  Hospice for their excellent care of Denver.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Vincent Smith officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Sunday, from 3-8 p.m., at the funeral home.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
