Delores Irene (Deckard) Casteel

Delores Irene (Deckard) Casteel, 76, of Manns Choice, PA, died Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her residence. She was born on May 14, 1940, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of the late Hoey Deckard and Maxine (Jones) Gillespie. On March 5, 1966, in Ysleta, TX, she married Glenden Casteel who survives. She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles "Bud" Deckard.
Delores was a member and sang in the choir for 10 years, at the Bedford United Methodist Church. She received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Central Missouri State, in Warrensburg, Missouri, and then trained as a missionary for the United Methodist Church. She taught for 31 years at various places including the Harwood Girls School, in Albuquerque, NM, schools in El Paso, TX, Anthony, NM, Breezewood, PA, Manns Choice, PA, and Zia Elementary in Albuquerque, NM. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority, and PEO.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bedford United Methodist Church with Jim Miller officiating.
