Dawayne F. Diehl

Dawayne F. Diehl, 74, of Upper Snake Spring Road, Everett, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Nason Hospital.  He was born on September 19, 1938, in Bedford, a son of the late Palmer W. and Velma (Mills) Diehl. On April 27, 1960, in Woodstock, VA, he married Bonnie Diehl, who survives along with the following family: two sons, Dwight G. Diehl married to the fomer Rose Pittman, and Dean W. Diehl married to the former Tammy Hollar, a daughter, Beverly E. Stanton and husband Robert all of Everett; eight grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Zach Treece, D. Howard Diehl and wife Kaitlin, Krystal, Katlyn, and Megan Diehl, Kenny Staton, Amanda wife of Dan Zug, and Matthew “Buck” Stanton; and a great-granddaughter Natalee Zug.  He was preceded in death by two brothers Guy and Lloyd and widow Delores of Everett.

Dawayne was a member and former Council Member of the Bald Hill Lutheran Church.  He was a mechanic for Lutz Garage and Kenny’s Atlantic, and drove for Robert England, Luther Beegle, Maryland Transportation, an owner/operator for George Transfer, and retired from Motor Freight Express after 10 years.  After retirement, he drove for Bollman Charter Services, was the Snake Spring Twp. Supervisor, a Bedford Area School District Bus Contractor, member of the Lazzy Bee Camping Club, and Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club, and enjoyed playing cards, riding snow mobiles, hunting, restoring tractors, his grandchildren, drinking coffee at McDonalds with friends, and in his younger years, playing softball with the Snake Spring Fast Pitch League.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bald Hill Lutheran Church, in Everett, with Pastor Michael Wright officiating.  Burial at Everett Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
