David R. Smith, 67, of Bedford, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his residence. He was born on March 24, 1953, in Everett, a son of the late Norman "Jerry" and Bernice (Morris) Smith. On June 1, 1974, in Weyant, he married Barbara (Smith) Smith who survives along with a son, Chad Allen Hockenberry and wife Helen of Warfordsburg; a daughter, Shelly Thuss and husband Kenny of Cumberland, MD; four grandchildren:  Dylan, Cody, Lacey, and Alexis; one sister, Linda Strohe and husband Jerry of Spokane, WA; and one uncle Don Smith and wife Mary Edna of Rainsburg.  He was preceded in death by a grandson Austin.

David worked for Mortimore Electric and then drove truck for Agway Energy products until its closing.  His most recent employment was driving truck for C. William Hetzer a construction company out of Hagerstown, MD.  In his spare time he enjoyed watching tractor pulls and going to car shows.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Friday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to observe the recommendations pertaining to wearing masks and social distancing.   Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
