Darwin F. Bardell

Darwin F. Bardell, 90 of K Street, Bedford, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Lee Specialty Hospital in Johnstown.  He was born February 4, 1921 in Altoona, son of the late Darwin F. and Ethel (Dickens) Bardell.  On September 8, 1941 in Cumberland, MD, he married Betty J. McCoy and she survives along with three children: Diane L. wife of Tom Burtnett of Milwaukee, WI, J. Terry Bardell, married to the former Jill Krivoski, and Richard A. Bardell, married to the former Vickie Baughman, both of Bedford.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Angela, Terri Ann, Tom Jr., Tim, Kristie, Sean, Johnna and Brandon, and 15 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Darwin L. Bardell husband of Sun, of Radcliff, KY, two brothers; John and Richard Bardell, and a sister Catherine Bardell.

Mr. Bardell was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford American Legion Post 0113 and the Allegheny Club in Hollidaysburg.  He was a truck driver for Continental in Bedford for many years,  and served in the Pacific Theater with the Marine Corps during World War II.

Funeral Services: Monday July 11, 2011 at 12:00 noon, in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Doug Friant officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 145 S.
