Cynthia L. Koontz 76, of Friends Cove, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 21, 1948 in Bedford a daughter of the late Jesse Dale and Kathleen (Baker) Smith. On September 26, 1969 in Bedford, she married Gary Koontz who survives along with two daughters: Stephanie Leibfreid and husband Joshua of Bedford; and Kaitlin Grimes and husband Cody of Roaring Spring; six grandchildren: Emslee, Reese, Finnley, Quinn, Garrity, and Briggs; one sister Jacqueline K. Epstein widow of Morton of Harrisburg; a brother Clair D. Smith and wife Paula of Sarasota, FL; inherited little sister Carolyn Almond; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and several beloved friends.
Cyndie was a 1966 graduate of Bedford High School. She retired after 46 years from Bedford Hospital starting out as an x-ray tech and then becoming the manager of the imaging department. She enjoyed shopping, camping, gambling, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and dog Weezer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. David Weinhold and Pastor Brad Zembower officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
