Clyde W. Stinson

August 5, 1948 — July 31, 2020

Bedford

Clyde W. Stinson, 71, of Bedford died Friday, July 31, 2020 at his residence.  He was born on August 5, 1948 in Bedford, the son of the late John Jr. and Nellie Stinson.  He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Evelyn Swartzwelder-Stinson.  He is survived by sisters, Sally Faust and husband Ed, of Chambersburg and Linda Taylor and husband John of Bedford, along with a nephew, nieces and their families.

Clyde was a 1966 graduate of Bedford High School.  Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy.  He then returned to Bedford and retired from Kennametal after 35 years.  Clyde was an avid music enthusiast, who could tell you the name of the song, who sang it, who wrote it, and the story behind the group who recorded it.  His favorite past time was watching old movies and tv shows, of which he could name the actors and their backgrounds, all without ever owning a computer.

His love of football led him to be one of the founding members of the Bedford Football Draft League.  He was a dedicated viewer of the NFL Draft.  His favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens.  He loved animals, especially dogs.  He kept the neighborhood birds and squirrels well fed.  He supported the Bedford Humane Society, donating items in need.  Clyde was a lifelong member of the American Legion.  He always had a joke for anyone he met.

Funeral services will be private.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions in Clyde’s name to: Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford, PA 15522.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
