Master Sergeant Cletus E. Imler, (ret.), 86, of Park Lane, Bedford, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his residence, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on August 10, 1929, in Roaring Spring, a son of the late John C. and Margaret (Kagarise) Imler. On November 13, 1954, in Cumberland, MD, he married JoAnn Hainley, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, Lori B. Imler, of Fishertown, a son, Cletus L. Imler and wife Michelle, of Bedford; daughter, Lyn Marie Mock and husband Michael, of Bedford; a sister, Betty Burkett of Imler; four brothers: Clifford Imler and wife Alice, of Bedford, Gary Imler and wife Sue, of Fishertown, Richard Imler and wife Faye, of Poleski; and Barry Imler and wife Wanda, of Lewistown; four grandchildren: Jordyn and Nicholas Imler, Michael and Ashley Mock and many nieces and nephews and a special niece Trisha Imler of Osterburg. He was preceded in death by four brothers: John, Franklin, Kenneth, and Donald Imler, two sisters: Frieda Mock and Sandy Imler.
Cletus served in the Army for 6 years and the Air Force for 14 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam War’s. During the Korean War he served in the 21st Troop Carrier Squadron (The Bee Liners). His military career took him to all seven continents. At the time of his retirement, he was stationed at Dover Air Force Base. He was self employed as a contractor and owner of C & S Home Service Inc. in Dover, DE. . He was a member and past president of the Bedford Lions Club, lifetime member of the Pleasantville VFW Post # 9219, and the Bedford American Legion Post # 113.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. John Bennett officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
