Charlotte J. Wertz

Charlotte J. Wertz 76 of Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  She was born May 8, 1932 in Manns Choice, daughter of the late Clarence A. and Margaret P. (Bagley) Scritchfield.  On October 16, 1950 in Winchester, VA she married Donald B. “Dude” Wertz and he survives along with five children: Victorine J. wife of Kenneth Williams, Kay L. wife of Terry Williams, Donna L. wife of Herman Rhodes, Rex A. Wertz married to the former Linda Brallier and S. Paul Wertz and fiancée Dee Rowan all of Bedford.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Shelley wife of David J. Miller, Ellen wife of Robert G. Gardner, Stacey Williams, David Williams, R. Allen Wertz and wife Shelley, Matthew Rhodes and wife Melissa, Amanda wife of Les Boden, Mark Rhodes and Krystal Wertz and fiancé Lee Avent, 14 great grandchildren and two sisters: Alonda Braman of Bedford and Margaret Scritchfield of Manns Choice.  She was preceded in death by four brothers: Joel A., Ricky C., Samuel H. and David Scritchfield and one sister Shirley Grasser

Mrs. Wertz was a member of Providence Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services: Monday, 11:00 AM from Providence Lutheran Church in Bedford Valley with Rev. Raymond E. Short officiating.  Burial at Bortz Lutheran Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
