Charles H. Waltemire Sr.

Charles H. Waltemire, Sr. 78 of Green Lane, Bedford, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 29, 1929 in Indiana, son of the late Ralph Waltemire Sr. and Clara (Hollis) Waltemire.  On June 23, 1957 in Indiana, he married Bulah L. Elkin and she survives along with five children: Charles H. Waltemire and wife Mary Ellen of Hagerstown, Richard E. Waltemire and wife Cindy of Cranberry TWP, Sheryl D. Waltemire of Nags Head, NC, Randall Lewis Waltemire and wife Delma of Everett and Kandis L. wife of William Robinson of Kill Devil Hills, NC.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Tia Waltemire, Kelsi Waltemire, Rick Waltemire, Michael Waltemire and wife Tiffany, Tanner Waltemire and wife Carrie, Cody Waltemire, Travis Clapper, W. Tyler Robinson, Kristin wife of Greg Mullens, one great granddaughter, Syeria Nicole Waltemire, a brother Ralph Waltemire and wife Alice of Delmont, and a sister Margie wife of Robert Strong of Indiana.  He was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Grabiel of Erie.

Mr. Waltemire was a graduate of Indiana High School and served in the Navy.  He was retired from Hedstrom Corp. and prior to that had worked for Beamer Ford and Don Rice Ford in Bedford and McGill Motors in Indiana. He was a member of the Bedford Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and enjoyed auto racing and spending time with his family.

Funeral Services: Thursday, 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. James Haddon officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to South Alleghenies Lung Association, P.
