Charles W. "Skip" Gardner

Charles W. “Skip” Gardner 79 of Everett died Saturday, December 11, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  He was born on March 6, 1942 in Bedford, a son of the late William Clyde and Elsie Catherine (Miller) Gardner.  On November 27, 1971 in Roaring Spring he married Janet Louise (Clapper) Gardner who preceded him in death on February 18, 2018.  He is survived by the following siblings: Margaret “Sue” Leonardi widow of Clyde, of Baltimore, MD, Harry Patrick Gardner widower of Debra, of Bedford, John Samuel Gardner, of Bedford, Mary Jane O’Brien and husband Danny, of Bedford, Keith Allen Gardner, of Schellsburg, and Kevin Arnold Gardner, of Baltimore, MD; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Harriet.

Skip served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Fort Bedford VFW.  He retired from Kennametal after 34 years, and also installed appliances and hauled propane.  Skip enjoyed hunting, golfing, reading, and was a dedicated husband to his wife Louise.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with Jim Miller officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Skip’s name to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
