Charles J. Patten

Charles J. Patten, 78, of Bedford formerly of Mt. Morris, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Carrol's Rest Home. He was born on December 6, 1933, in Washington, PA, a son, of the late William J. and Wilma (Stanton) Patten. On August 7, 2005, in Cumberland, MD, he married Virginia (Briggs) Patten and she survives along with the following family: a daughter, Debra Sue wife of Rev. Richard Rechichar of Zuni, VA, two sons, Steven J. married to the former Beverly (O'Brien) Patten of Manns Choice, and, Charles Duane Patten and wife Donna of Dilner; five grandchildren: Aaron, Mary, Sarah, Brian, and Chelsea, and five great-grandchildren, a brother William Patten and wife Elva of Eugene, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Rose Marie (Greer) Patten, and a daughter Lisa Renee Patten.
Charles was of the Christian Faith. He was affiliated with law enforcement and was a member of Fraternal Order of Police National Trail Lodge 47. He enjoyed his home, cars, flea markets, dancing, and the outdoors.
A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
