Charles D. Gordon, 89, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of West Deer Township and St. Petersburg Florida, died Thursday, April 14 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Philomena; two brothers Raymond and Edward and a son , Charles Jr. He is survived by a sister, Ruth Colaizzi, of Bloomfield and three daughters, Paula Smith, wife of Clair, Mechanicsburg, Beth Soster wife of Terry, Ambridge, Barb Shadler wife of Don, Waynesboro; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Port Authority transit of Pittsburgh in 1975 with 30 years of service. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, Pa. In Later years, Chuck enjoyed playing golf, delivering meals on wheels and serving on his St. Petersburg, Florida neighborhood crime watch patrol. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the pirates and Steelers on television
Funeral Services Saturday at 11:00 AM from the Winter Funeral Home on Friendship Avenue in Pittsburgh (Bloomfield) with the Rev. Keith Grill officiating, burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Vistitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those wishing may make contributions to the American Heart Association or his chuch at 1610 Carisle Rd. Camp Hill 17011.
A memorial Service and celebration of life will be held at his church on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 11:00 AM.
