Charles O. Clingerman

Bedford

Charles O. Clingerman 90, of Bedford, died Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard after battling lung disease.  He was born on September 13, 1929 in Everett, a son of the late Ode and Rose (Dicken) Clingerman  On August 18, 1956, in Bedford he married his wife of 63 years Mary Ann (Imgrund) Clingerman who survives along with two sons: James F. Clingerman married to the former Terri Mobus, of Hollidaysburg, and Timothy Charles Clingerman married to the former Tammy Ickes, of Bedford; three daughters: Rose Mary “Rosie” Leppert and husband Wynn, of Bedford, Theresa A. Keller and husband Tim, of Bedford, and Sue Ann “Moe” Spigler and husband Brian, of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren: Steven, Joshua, Taylor, Tiffany, Eric, Jonathan, Morgan, and Quinton; and eight great-grandchildren: Andan, Alexandra, Hank, Ava, Evan, Case, Tenley, and Molly.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Clingerman; two brothers: James Dale and Robert “Bob” Clingerman widow Betty Clingerman who survives of Everett; and a sister Jenean Beck.

Charles was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1948.  He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years patrolling the Gulf Coast during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he worked for several companies including: Pennsylvania New York Railroad Division, Pennsylvania Turn Pike, Brown Motor Supply in Everett as a parts manager, Somerset Mack and Thomas Chevrolet in the parts department, and then retired from JLG in Bedford.  He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford.  There wasn’t anything that Charles couldn’t fix, and he enjoyed working with his hands, building bird boxes, woodworking, puzzles, and 3D puzzles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Charles name to: Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr., Altoona, PA 16602, or Bedford County Library, 240 Wood Street, Bedford, PA 15522.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
