Cartha M. Lowery

Cartha “Mam” Mae Lowery, 86 of Lincoln Highway, Bedford, died early Thursday morning at her residence.  She was born June 4, 1922 in Waynesburg, daughter of the late Floyd and Clara Belle (Camp) Breese.  On October 15, 1937 in Ellerslie, MD she married Clifton G. Lowery and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2002.  She is survived by two daughters: Shirley wife of Raymond Glass and Betty Ann wife of Rev. Fred L. Howsare, both of Bedford, four grandchildren: Barbara wife of Don Stewart, Roxann wife of Kevin Jones, Raymond “Buster” Glass Jr. and wife Brenda, and Tammy Lee wife of Chris Knavel, nine great grandchildren: Leeann, Lura, Aaron, Alex, Clifton, Christina, David, Keegan and Kyle, five great great grandchildren: Samantha, Maggie, Cory , Gracie and Kagen. Also surviving is a brother Gerald Breese and wife Dottie of Boynton Beach, FL a sister, Audrey widow of the late Tom Blubaugh of Bedford, and a special care giver, Marilyn Snyder.  She also raised 29 Foster Children in the Bedford Area.

Mrs. Lowery was a member of the Bedford Village Assembly of God Church where she taught the Missionettes class, and was a member of the Women’s Mission Council of the Church.  She also was senior citizens volunteer that worked at Old Bedford Village.

Funeral Services:  Saturday 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Fred L. Howsare officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 &7-9 PM and ½ hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
