Carol A. Walters

Carol A. Walters 67 of Gephart Ave., Bedford, died Monday evening, December 8, 2008 at the Altoona Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer.  She was born November 9, 1941 in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Myers) Steel.  She is survived by three daughters: Cara wife of David Greenawalt of Rainsburg, Melissa wife of Douglas Bell of Littleton, CO, Stephanie wife of Robert DeArmitt of Altoona and a son Madison married to the former Lorie Zimmerman of Everett. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Justin and Jacob Greenawalt, Aaron and Nathan Bell, Logan and Connor DeArmitt, Meagan, Kyle, Abby and Gracie Walters, and the following brothers and sisters: Robert Steel and wife Linda of Georgia, Darlene wife of Gary Lashley of Maryland, Linda wife of David Bolinger of Waterfall and Gary Steel and wife Rhonda of Breezewood.  She was preceded in death by a sister Sondra Garman wife of William Garman Sr. of Altoona.

Mrs. Walters was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church and had been an executive secretary and office manager at the Post House in Breezewood for 27 years.  She was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Union High School.

Funeral services: Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.  Those wishing may make contributions the Bedford Food Bank, 132 W.
