Bobby J. Newman, 79, of Mile Level, Bedford, died Saturday, February 21, 2014 at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He was born on December 21, 1934, in Central City, a son of the late Frederick and Laura Emma (Pebley) Newman. On November 14, 1956, in Johnstown, he married Gloria (Hernandez) Newman who preceded him in death on November 20, 2010. He is survived by the following family: three sons, Bobby L. Newman and wife Joy, of Claysburg, Roger L. Newman, and wife Avon of Bedford, and John E. Newman, of New Paris; five grandchildren: Kristopher, Dustin, Julian, Olivia, and Jaden; four great-grandchildren: Alysa, Draven, Justis, and Jaida; three brothers: David, Don, and Richard Newman; and a sister Wilma Hillyer. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Robert, Fred, Ezra, James, Edgar, and Billy Jo Newman; and two sisters: Ethel and Betty Newman.
Bobby was affiliated with the Faith Brethren Bible Church, and retired from the Blacklick Valley Coal Company as a miner. He was a proud Army Veteran, serving for 8 years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a loving father, and well-liked by all.
