Betty L. Weyant, 81, of Hoover Road, Everett, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on August 16, 1933, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Nelson and Mary (Kimmel) Smith. On March 20, 1954, in Winchester, VA, she married Walter V. Weyant Jr. who survives along with a sister, Francis Pensyl of Osterburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Roy Smith, and a sister, Pearl Cameron.
Betty graduated from cosmetology school and owned and operated her own shop for many years before retiring to take care of her gardening and pets. She was a lifelong member of the St. John's Christian Church in Cessna. Betty had many close friends and without their help, she could not have stayed at her home for as long as she did with her husband. Her best friends Betty and Wayne Shaffer, Victor and Christine Sturtz, Bob and Joyce Watson, Tex and Shirley Cessna, and special neighbors Julie and Ken Recker.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Christian Church in Cessna with Pastor Eric Larson and Pastor Gary Pensyl officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Sunday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to the St. John’s Christian Church, 330 Reynoldsdale Road, New Paris, PA 15554.
