Bedford

Betty Catherine Weaverling, 81, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 15, 1944 in Bedford, a daughter of the late George and Regina (Diehl) Clites. On June 12, 1965 in Bedford, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Eugene “Gene” Weaverling and he survives after 61 years along with three sons: Barry Weaverling and partner Jennifer Feather of Bedford, Larry Weaverling and wife Deanna of Bedford, and Mike Weaverling and wife JoEllen of State College; 10 grandchildren: Paige Manza and husband Frank, Corey Weaverling, Sydney Weaverling, Brooke Gibbs and husband Justin, Bailey Weaverling, Carter Weaverling, Addie Weaverling, Drew Weaverling, Maisey Weaverling, and Cosme Weaverling; one great-grandson: Theo; and their beloved dog: Shadow. She also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and many whose lives were enriched by her kindness.

Betty was a 1962 graduate of Bedford High School and continued her education at Catherman’s Business School. She dedicated more than 30 years of her career to the banking industry. After retirement, she enjoyed the past nine years driving students to school for Maxwell Transportation. Although she was a current member of Bedford Methodist Church, Betty was an active member at Trinity United Church of Christ for many years, and served as the Treasurer for the Salvation Army as well as her class reunion committee. Betty found great joy in tending her flower gardens, especially her cherished sand cherries. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the selfless way she always put the needs of others before her own. Her greatest happiness, however, was found in the time she spent with her family. Whether cheering from the sidelines at baseball games, attending wrestling camps and tournaments while her boys were growing up, preparing holiday meals for loved ones gathered around her table, or welcoming family and friends with fresh coffee and her famous homemade sweet rolls during hunting season, Betty made everyone feel at home. Those who knew her best will also smile remembering her signature pink sparkling nail polish – a small touch that reflected her warm and vibrant personality.

Betty’s legacy is one of love, service, generosity, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a family who loved her, friends who will deeply miss her, and a community made better because she was part of it.
