Betty J. Nave

Betty J. Nave, 86, of Bedford, formerly of Charlesville, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on July 5, 1924, in Altoona, a daughter, of the late Clem and Bertha (Reid) Weidlich.  On April 13, 1953 in Winchester, Va, she married, John T. Nave who preceded her in death on January 29, 1999.  She is survived by a daughter, Polly Steele of Everett, two grandsons, J.T. Steele of Everett and         Daniel Steele of San Angelo, TX, two sisters, Pauline Robertson and, Dorothy wife of George Wertz all of Altoona, numerous nieces and nephews, and her extended family at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by six brothers: Frank, John, Dick, Donald, Paul, and Gunner Weidlich, a sister, Donna Knee, and one very special niece Joyce Davis.

She was a member of the former Methodist Church and Woods Church in Rainsburg. She was a member of the Monday Night Pioneer bowling league at Chalybeate and the Tuesday Morning Coffee League at the Elks. She worked the Friday night races and also during fair week at the concession stand for Mae and Evan Hilligass. She also enjoyed crafts, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.  Betty was also an avid baker and also known for her raspberry pies.  She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a friend to all. Betty will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure and fortune of knowing her.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev Paul Claycomb officiating.  Burial at Woods Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday 3-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
