Betty J. Bardell

Betty J. Bardell, 90, of K Street, Bedford, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.   She was born on September 2, 1923, in Altoona, a daughter of the late John and Lista (Arnold) McCoy.  On September 8, 1941, in Cumberland, MD, she married Darwin F. Bardell, her husband of 69 years, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2011.  She is survived by a daughter, Dianne L. wife of Tom Burtnett, of Milwaukee, WI, two sons, J. Terry Bardell married to the former Jill Krivoski, and Richard A. Bardell married to the former, Vickie Baughman, both of Bedford; eight grandchildren: Angela, Terri Ann, Tom Jr., Tim, Kristie, Sean, Johnna, and Brandon; and 14 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded by a son, Darwin L. Bardell, a brother John Arnold McCoy, and a sister, Dorothy Hart.

Betty retired in 1992, after 27 years with Sears.  She was a very active member, and session member, of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, and was a 61 year member of the Bedford American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  The family would like to express their thanks to her care givers, Jamie, Amy, Joan, Annie, and Darlene.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Doug Friant officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions in Betty’s name to: Bedford Presbyterian Church, 145 S.
