Bernice R. Walter

Bernice R. Walter, 92, of Valley Road, Fishertown, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Windber Hospice. She was born on January 14, 1921, in Spring Hope, a daughter of the late Oscar and Carrie (Davis) Hershberger. On May 24, 1947, in Fishertown, she married Donald A. Walter who preceded her in death on May 27, 1999.

Her family was very important to her. She is survived by: two daughters: Karen L. wife of Robert Wambaugh of Morgan Hill, CA, and Cindy A. wife of William Clites Jr. of Bedford; four grandchildren: Kaylee and Kie Wambaugh of Morgan Hill, CA, Bradley Clites and fiancée Kylei Davis of Bedford, and Brian Clites and wife Hannah, of Triangle, VA; one deeply loved great-granddaughter, Samantha Clites; two foster brothers: Tom Hershberger and wife Karen, and John Betsinger, both of Bedford, a foster sister, Marietta Smith French, of Rosedale, MD. She was a beloved aunt of: Jerry Hershberger, Kim (Hershberger) Cessna, Susan (Hershberger) Martin, and their families.  She was preceded in death by a brother Jerald Hershberger, and a niece, Carol Hershberger.

Bernice was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, in New Paris, with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday, one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church. Burial to follow at Fishertown Cemetery. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
