Bernice J. (Rose) Evans

Bernice J. Evans, 95, of Bedford, died on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at her residence. She was born on November 5, 1929 in Cumberland Valley a daughter of the late Sherman and Nellie (Deremer) Rose. On December 14, 1950 in Cumberland, MD, she married Louis Evans and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2001.  She is survived by three sons:  Herbert Evans and wife Cindy of New Buena Vista; Louis Dean Evans and wife Doris of Red Lion; Robert Lee Evans and wife Sandie of Bedford; two daughters:  Jacqueline Frederick of Bedford; and Cindy Evans also of Bedford; seven grandchildren:  Leeann Barnes and husband Alex, Jeff Evans, Tyler Frederick and wife Misty, Lura Hansell and husband Billy, Adam Frederick and wife Carrie, Jason Evans and wife Katie, and Mesa Clark; 13 great-grandchildren: Tommy Frederick, Emma Frederick, Samantha Wilson, Maggie Barnes, Brody Evans, Chase Evans, Harper Frederick, Louis Frederick, Cory Berkey, Gracie Strayer, Everly Hansell, Gannicus Hansell, and Hailey Evans, .  Two great-great-grandchildren:  Colton Wilson and Lucy McLarn; one brother, Donald Rose of Baltimore, MD.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Evans, and an infant grandson, two brothers, Robert "Bob" and Homer Rose, and two sisters: Mildred Stiffler and Marian McClaffy.

Bernice retired from Kennametal after 28 years.  She was an avid bowler and participated in all the bowling leagues. She enjoyed gardening, making applesauce, watching the Pirates and the Steelers, but most importantly she loved her family. A special thank you to the staff at Dr. Baer’s office, Bedford Hospice, and the Hillman Cancer Center.
