Benedict J. “Ben” Braman, 72, of Bedford, formerly of Manns Choice, died surrounded by his family, Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at his residence. He was born on February 22, 1936 in Bedford, a son of the late Stanley T. and Sophie L. (Heming) Braman. On July 30, 1955 in Bedford, he married Alonda N. Scritchfield at St Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford who survives along with the following family, a son, Daniel, married to the former Patricia Price of Manns Choice, a son, Andrew, married to the former Gladys Harbaugh of Manns Choice, a daughter, Lois, wife of Harvey Lodge Jr. of Indiana, a daughter, Margaret, wife of Eric Clapper of Loysburg, a daughter, Amy, wife of David Clark of Bedford, a son, Dennis Braman, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, nine grandchildren: Jason and wife Liane, Jill and husband Tristan, Bryan and wife Lisa, James, Nicole, Abby, Seth, Bronson, & Jacob, three great grandchildren: Veronica, Audra, and Bryan, a sister, Margaret Bollinger, of Cumberland, MD, a brother, Lawrence "Fred" Braman, of Baltimore, MD, a brother, Vincent Braman, of Bedford, a sister, Catherine Harris, of Cumberland, MD, a sister, Gemma Baker, of Bedford, and a sister, Christina Wilson, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by many beloved aunts and uncles.
He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford. He retired after 32 years from Bedford Valley Petroleum. Ben enjoyed building pedal tractors, tractor shows, working on lawn mowers, family gatherings, and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 1:00 PM at the St Thomas Catholic Church with Father Donald Dusza Celebrant. Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 6-9 PM, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to Ben’s favorite tractor show in Ben’s name to Alum Bank Fire Hall, P.O. Box 46, Alum Bank, PA 15521, or your charity of choice.
