Barbara A. Hershberger

Barbara Ann (Nevitt) Hershberger, 81, formerly of Bedford, passed away May 22, 2013, quietly in her sleep, at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, as her son told her stories about the summer vacations they shared at the Jersey Shore.  She was born on June 7, 1931, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Beagle) Nevitt.  On June 21, 1953, in Bedford, she married Alan Hershberger, her high school sweetheart, and husband of over 50 years, who preceded her in death on April 18, 2012.  She is survived by a son: Andrew married to the former Tara Sullivan, and two grandsons: Scott and Nicholas, all of Litchfield, NH; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Nevitt.

Barbara was a graduate of Bedford High School and then worked as a secretary for DuPont, in Wilmington, DE, but spent most of her life as a homemaker in Bethlehem, PA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Vicar David Wienhold officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Those wishing may make donations in her name to the: Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
