Ardeth N. “Art” Kaltenbaugh, 83 of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Bedford, died Monday, August 16, 2010 in Fairfax. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Kaltenbaugh, who passed away in 2004. He was the loving father of Martin married to the former Carol Hohman of Fairfax, VA, and wonderful Grandfather of Brian and Douglas Kaltenbaugh, who share many fond memories of fun times with Art. He is also survived by his brother Lou Kaltenbaugh of California and several cousins, nieces and nephews in the Bedford Area and elsewhere. Art was born and raised near Bedford in a large family, the son of David and Bertha (Slick) Kaltenbaugh. He graduated from Schellsburg High School, and soon after joined the Army during World War II, stationed in Okinawa. After the war he went to Pittsburgh where he met and married Dorothy in 1949, and they traveled with their son during Art’s army career over the next 15 years. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Bruno Brothers Beauty Supply, serving beauty solons all over Western PA.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Claude Hall officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Wednesday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
