Anthony C. Chardella

Anthony C. Chardella, 88, of Bedford, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at his residence. He was born on August 17, 1920 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles and Christina (Priore) Chardella. On June 27, 1946 in Pittsburgh, he married Lena Pizzuti who survives along with two daughters, Christine "Tina" wife of Pete Wojcik Sr. of Bedford, Antionette Chardella of Bedford, two grandchildren Anita wife of Terry Nearhoof , Pete Wojcik Jr. and wife Renee, five great grandchildren Brennan, Katrina, Drake, Demetrius and D’Angelo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church. He retired as a general contractor and was a former deputy sheriff for Allegheny County. He enjoyed hunting and was a lifetime member and organizer of the 8th Air Force Historical Society.
Funeral Mass: Monday, August 3, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with the celebrant Donald Dusza officiating. Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
