Anne S. Andrews, 90, of Bedford, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on August 20, 1925, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late William and Anne (Allen) Strehler. On August 16, 1952, in Johnstown, she married Robert “Smoke” Andrews who preceded her in death on May 7, 2014. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Parenteau and husband William of North Grafton, MA; two grandsons, Andrew Parenteau and wife Diana of Randolph, MA, Christopher Parenteau of Austin, TX, and a sister, Mary Gretchen Rice and husband Robert of Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by one brother Allen Strehler.
Anne was a member and past Elder of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Indiana State Teacher’s College and retired as a 3rd grade Teacher from the Bedford Primary School. At one time was associated with the AAUW and was very talented as an artist. The family wanted to acknowledge the exceptional care that their mother received at Bedford Colonial Courtyard and her special friends Georgine and Dave O’Brien and Sue Edwards for the visits they made.
The family is honoring her wishes by having a private graveside services that will be held at Grandview Cemetery, in Johnstown. There will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Anne’s name to the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 145 South Juliana Street, Bedford, PA 15522. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
