Anna Louise “Betty” Hoover 86, of Bedford died Friday, November 6, 2015, at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on March 16, 1929 in New Paris a daughter of the late Cloyd and Sarah (Oster) Way. On May 6, 1949, in Cumberland, MD she married Warden K. Hoover Jr., who preceded her in death on January 13, 2011. She is survived by a daughter Vickie Hoover, of Youngstown, OH, a son William Hoover married to the former Kathy Shippey of Bedford, and a daughter Deborah Drobenak and husband Richard, of Aspers; six grandchildren: Melissa wife of Galen Miller, Lisa wife of David Leydig, Jennifer Hoover, Brandon Drobenak and wife Valerie, Matthew Drobenak and wife Nikki, and Emily wife of Matthew Leedy; and five great-grandchildren: Jacob and Olivia Drobenak, Dylan Leydig, Clara Miller, and Michael Leedy. She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Warden, Grant, Harold, Cloyd Jr., Paul, Merle, and Vaughn “Sonny” Way; five sisters: Lois Weyant, Marian Mullin, Effie Kline, Iva Feathers, Geraldine Way.
Betty retired from the Sears & Roebuck Catalog store in Bedford. She was an active member of the St. John’s UCC Church, where she and her husband enjoyed providing and serving meals at church functions. She enjoyed planting flowers, decorating her house, feeding the birds, playing cards, and making Sandtarts at Christmas. She looked forward to attending the Bedford County Fair each year, and listening to music on the square. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities, and visiting with family and friends. While at Colonial Courtyard she enjoyed socializing with the residents and will be remembered as always having a smile on her face. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Colonial Courtyard, and Grane Hospice for their love and support.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s UCC Church, in Bedford, with Pastor Brady Plummer, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, and one half hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
