Allen P. Koontz

Allen P. Koontz, 91, of Bedford, died on September 3, 2017 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. He was born on September 20, 1925, in Clearville, a son of the late Ellis and Mae (Conlon) Koontz. On April 14, 1945, in Hollidaysburg, he married Betty Ruth (Henderson) Koontz who survives along with two daughters, Constance McGill and husband Dennis of Everett, and Linda Carey and husband James of Trinity, FL; three grandchildren:  Louis Dahl of Bedford, Stefanie Ritchey of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Kari Howard and husband Victor of Land of Lakes, Fl., one brother Richard widow of Maryland of Everett.  He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Phillip Dahl, and one brother and sister-in-law Harold and Marie Koontz.

Allen was a member of the Bedford Village Assembly of God Church.  He started driving trucks when he was 16 and worked for Continental, Warren, and Hall’s.  He enjoyed picking up his newspaper and coffee every morning at the newsstand.  He also enjoyed reading, watching old westerns, taking care of his yard, the Sunday morning prayer groups at the church.  Allen was kind hearted and never knew a stranger.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with Pastor William Foy officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
