Albert F. Cousin

Albert F. Cousin, 84, of South Juliana Street, Bedford, died peacefully Friday, July 20, 2012 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 30, 1927 in Thomas, WV, the son of the late John Wesley and Hazel (Hedrick) Cousin. On February 19, 1954 in Cumberland, MD, he married Mary Ellen Helmick and she survives along with,  a son, Gary of Greenbelt, MD, a foster son, Bill Abel of Silver Spring, MD, a daughter, Joy wife of Joaquin Torres of Boynton Beach, FL, two grandchildren:  Diego and Kyla Torres, one brother Tom Cousin, of Beverely, WV, five sisters Geraldine Burger of Fairfield, OH, Freda Kovach of Davis, WV, Eileen Heldreth and Jacqueline Thompson, both of Fairmont, WV, and Patricia Wiley of Marlinton, WV.

Mr. Cousin was a graduate of Thomas High School, and served 4 years in the Merchant Marines.  He was a Master Sergeant in the Korean War and was honored with 2 Bronze Stars. Later Al was a business machine specialist, Boy Scout Master from 1958-1988, active member of Mowatt UMC, Greenbelt, MD and the first recipient of the Greenbelt Outstanding Citizen Award.
