A. James “Jim” Diehl, 93, of Main Road, Bedford, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. He was born on March 31, 1920, in Colerain Twp., a son of the late Ellis and Sarah (Robinson) Diehl. On June 19, 1940, in West Virginia, he married Lois Leonard who survives along with two daughters: Judy wife of Todd Lowry of Mechanicsville, VA, Sharon wife of Don Keller of Kimberton, one son: Paul Diehl married to the former Sherry Nave of Bedford, eight grandchildren: Connie, Christy and husband Kenny, Ryan and wife Caitlin, Erica, Zane, Kristofer, Grant, Adam and wife Shanda, five great grandchildren: Renee and husband D.J., Eric and wife Kristen, Joshua, Arianna, and Mila, three great great grandchildren: Grayson, Kenslie and Ashton, one brother: Robert Diehl and wife Sally of Bedford, three sisters: Ethel Broderick of Bedford, Mary Koontz and husband Joe of Bedford, and Helen Wertz widow of Pete of Berlin. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Constance, and two brothers Fred and Roger.
Jim was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Friends Cove and part of the Consistory for many years. He worked as a Farmer and heavy equipment operator and was a Colerain Township Supervisor for 24 years. He was a member of the Friends Cove Sportsman’s Club, and enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, fishing in Delaware, and eating.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at 11:00 am, in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating. Burial at Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
