William G. Walent

William G. Walent, 75, of Bedford, passed away on December 21, 2019 at his residence, with his wife at his side.  He was born July 8, 1944, in Windber Hospital, a son of the late George “Beans” and Agnes (Sikora) Walent.  Bill was the oldest of three children. On July 20, 1992, in Bedford, he married Janet G. (Grubb) Walent who survives along with his son William Walent, Jr. and wife Angell of Bedford a  sister, Georgette (Walent) Winkel of McCordsville, IN; a brother Edward Walent of Ebensburg; a niece Paulette Cartens and husband  Andrew, of Indiana; two step-sons: Troy Wigfield and wife Tawnya, of Schellsburg, and Travis Wigfield and wife Anahi, of Bedford; and four step- grandchildren: Wyatt, Landon, Dulcia, and Caleb.

Bill, also known as “Beans” to many of his high school friends, attended Shade-Central City High School, graduating from there in 1962. He was a dedicated employee of Bedford Rural Electric for 34 years, from 1972 to 2006.  After retiring, Bill enjoyed his mornings with his buddies at Denny’s for coffee, and catching up with his former co-workers and friends.  The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and prayers during his extended illness.  Special thanks to UPMC Family Hospice, Dr. Baer, Dr. Keating, Dr. Siglin, and all of their staff.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Lay Minister Jim Miller officiating.  Interment will be private at Koontz Cemetery, in Loysburg.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
