Walter Weyant Jr. Obituary

Walter V. Weyant Jr., 93, of Everett, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 21, 1926, in Cessna, a son of the late Walter V. and Evelyn (Ickes) Weyant Sr.  On March 20, 1954, in Winchester, VA, he married Betty L. (Smith) Weyant who preceded him in death on November 13, 2014.  He is survived by some very special friends Doris Wolfe, Betty Shaffer, Victor and Christine Sturtz, Bob and Joyce Watson and special neighbors Julie and Ken Recker.  He was preceded in death by infant sister, Eleonore and a brother Dean Weyant.

Walter was a member of the St. John's Christian Church and served in the Army during WWII where he drove truck and operated heavy equipment.  He retired after 27 years with Interstate Motor Freight Systems where he worked in their body shop and trailer bay, and prior to that worked at the body shop on Black Oak Ridge. He enjoyed old cars and motorcycles and was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and the Pleasantville VFW Post # 9219.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with Pastor Eric Larson officiating. Burial will be private.  Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.   Full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard will be conducted at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions in Walter’s name to the St. John’s Christian Church, 330 Reynolds Road, New Paris, PA 15554.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
