Walter A. Mellott Sr., 76, of Waynesboro, GA formerly of Bedford, died on June 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 30, 1941, in Fulton County, a son of the late Alfred L. and Margaret E. (Pine) Mellott. On March 15, 1969, in Bedford, he married Marian (Sciranko) Mellott and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2005.  He is survived by the following family: a son, Walter "Butch" Mellott Jr. and wife Priscilla, of Nicholasville, KY, a son, Rick Mellott and wife Ann, of Mims, FL, step daughter, Rose Mary Barger, of Lexington, KY, a son, Alan Mellott and wife Pat, of Plant City, FL, a son, Michael Mellott and wife Patty, of Tampa, FL, a son, Jeffery Mellott, of Waynesboro, GA,  a son, Gregory Mellott and wife Rebecca, of Midway, GA, a son, Troy Mellott,  of Nicholasville, KY;  many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Burket and husband Donald, of Everett, Doris Fletcher widow of Bill, of Bedford; two brothers, Guy Mellott and wife Gloria, and Randy Mellott and wife Nancy, all of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by two infant brothers Horace and Wilmer, and another brother, Raymond Mellott and wife Gloria who survives of Connecticut; and one sister, Ruby McKee.

Walter was a U.S. Navy Veteran that served during Vietnam.  When Walter lived in Bedford he drove Truck and worked as a mechanic, he then worked with his son in Kentucky for Comfort Masters Heating and Air.   In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with Pastor William C. Swope officiating. Burial at Sideling Hill Christian Church Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Friday one hour prior to the service.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
