Virginia H. Bequeath, 92, of Everett, died on October 13, 2018, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1926, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Frank and Airetta (Valentine) Dodson. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Bequeath-Collom, widow of Chuck Collom, of Chapin, SC; three sons: Steve Bequeath and wife Gloria, David Bequeath and wife Jill, and Joseph Bequeath, all of Everett; four grandchildren, Craig Bequeath and wife Denise, Renee Draeger and husband Ernie, Nicholas Bequeath, and wife Keri, and Jonas Bequeath; three great grandchildren: Matthew, Evelyn Rose, and Warren Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, William John Bequeath and friend, Shirley Moorehead.
Virginia worked as a manager for the turnpike division of Howard Johnson’s and later when it became the Marriott. She received the Marriott Award of Excellence while she worked there. She was an avid golfer, and was a founding member of the Down River Golf Course, and Virginia along with others helped to start the Everett summer recreation program for the Everett Area School District. She was active and past president in the Everett Women’s Club and the Down River Women’s Golf Association, and also active in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). She enjoyed bowling in leagues and loved watching golf, Pirates, and Cubs baseball, the Steelers, and became a Gamecock baseball fan when she lived in South Carolina. She was well known for her baking and cooking skills.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Jeffrey Bassette officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
