Robert ‘Bob’ D. Brown, 82, of Bedford, died on April 25, 2018 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. He was born on September 24, 1935 in Elkins, WV, the son of the late Robert 'Red' N. and Mary Elizabeth (Poling) Brown. On February 8, 1958, he married his wife of 60 years Paula Mallory (White) Brown at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Morgantown, WV. She survives along with the following family members: a daughter, M. Robin Seckel, and husband Jeff of Dallas, TX; two sons, Robert 'Bob' D. Brown, Jr. and wife Kirsten of Elkridge, MD and Brian 'Rusty' D. Brown and wife Denise, of Chesterfield, VA; and eight grandchildren: Jennifer and Regan Seckel, Brianna and Lindsey Brown, and David, Cassandra, Danielle, and Jamie Brown.
Bob graduated from West Virginia University with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1958. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa and President of his Senior Class. He served 10 years in the United States Army Reserve and rose to the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge in 1968. He managed his family’s restaurant in Elkins, WV until he went to work for Capitol Cement Company in 1960. Bob moved to Bedford with his family in 1965. He joined New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company as a sales manager in 1966 and retired in 2003. Bob was a member of the Bedford Rotary Club, the Bedford Order of Elks and St. James Episcopal Church. He was an avid golfer and lifetime fan and supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church. Burial at the church memorial garden. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
