Richard A. Walter, 68, of New Paris, died on Friday, June 23, 2017, after a two year battle with cancer. He was born on May 16, 1949, in Altoona, a son of the late Harry R. and Gladys (Snyder) Walter. On July 19, 2015, in New Paris, he married Rita Ibarra who survives along with a brother, Harry R. Walter Jr. and wife Carol (Miller), of Hummelstown, two nieces Tina (Corle) Baham of Bedford and Amanda (Walter) Mannion and husband Matthew, of Hershey, one nephew, Harry R. Walter III and wife Shana (Pugh) of Etters; four great nieces, Kaitlin Baham, Elizabeth, Madelyn and Samantha Mannion, and one great nephew Harry R. Walter IV.

Richard retired as a Plant Manager from Lane Metal in 2005.  He was an Army veteran that served in Vietnam.  He was a member of the BCVVA, Schellsburg VFW Post # 4440, Bedford American Legion Post # 113, Moose Lodge # 480 and the New Baltimore Sportsman Club.  He enjoyed hunting and golfing. 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Sandra Ibarra officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Richard’s name to Love Inc., 80 State Street, Everett, PA 15537 or The Bedford County Humane Society,  1108 Lutzville Road, Everett, PA 15537.
