Raymond T. Boore, 94, of Pharr, TX, formerly of Bedford, went to be with the LORD on February 11, 2018. He was born on August 17, 1923 in Cumberland Valley, a son of the late Isaac M. and Edna L. (Felton) Boore. On July 14, 1943 in Bedford, he married his bride of 72 years, Harriet J. (Clapper) Boore, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, Sheredith Heitzenrater and husband Jim of Richmond, TX, and a son Brent Boore and wife Jan of Aiken, SC; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was a 1942 graduate of Bedford High School and spent over twenty years as a retail furniture manager for first Sears and then Montgomery Ward in Cumberland, MD. His vocation then took him to Vienna, WV and finally to Lake Charles, LA. Following retirement, he moved to Mission, TX where he lived for the last 25 years. Ray played the trombone in the Bedford HS band and kept his passion for playing in community bands until his nineties. He loved boating and traveling all over the continental US in RVs. He remained active in support of his Methodist Church, including the food bank. He could also be found tending to as many plants and fruit trees as he could reach. Ray and Harriet shared a love of being with and helping others. He remained close to his family roots in the Bedford area will be deeply missed by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Bedford United Methodist Church with Lay Minister Jim Miller officiating. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
