Mary E. (Divelbliss) Smith

Mary E. Smith, 95 of Bedford, died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home.  She was born on December 26, 1923 in Hancock, MD a daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Diehl) Divelbliss.  On December 19, 1945 in Hagerstown, MD she married Harold W. Smith, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1976.  She is survived by three sons: Ronald E. Smith and wife Nancy, of Bedford, Kenneth H. Smith and wife Lillian, of Waynesboro, and Dwayne E. Smith and wife Edith, of Bedford; five grandchildren: Jeff Smith and wife Tammie, of East Freedom, Lori Smith and husband Doug, of Waynesboro, Kelli Smith, of Elgin SC, Marcia Wakeman and husband Russell, of Everett, and Scot Smith and wife Marki, of Bedford; three step-grandchildren: Kathy Reid, of Clear Spring, MD, Kevin Dickens, of Charlestown, and Kevin Scott, of Waynesboro; five great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, one brother Herbert Divelbliss of Crystal Springs, a sister-in-law Olive Divelbliss of Hancock, MD,  special niece Sharlet Hull of CT,  and a special friend Leotta Taylor of Deep Creek, MD.  She was preceded in death by a daughter- in-law Barbara Smith, and 13 brothers and sisters.

Mary was of the protestant faith. She worked as cook for Five Gables Restaurant and the Coach Room.  She enjoyed making crafts and attending craft shows. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor John Bennett officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Sunday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
