Luella Dorothea (Schmidt) Kraft

Luella Dorothea Kraft 93, formerly of Towson, MD died Sunday, May, 20, 2018 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard.  She was born on August 26, 1924 in Baltimore, MD a daughter of the late Karl W. and Helen (Shamberger) Schmidt.  On March 5, 1949 at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Towson, MD, she married Earle A. Kraft who preceded her in death on April 12, 2004.  She is survived by five daughters: Joy Gonzalez and husband Ernie, of Cockeysville, MD, Sharon Fogarty and husband Evan, of Manchester, MD, Martha Chapman and husband John, of Phoenix, MD, Linda Kraft, of Miami, FL, and Sarah Baker and husband Jay, of Bedford; 16 grandchildren, who knew her as “Grandmom”, 18 great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “LuLu”; and a sister, Nancy Reitz.  She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Zinn, and Johann Darney; and three brothers: Duncan, Thaddeus, and Richard Schmidt.

Luella resided in Towson, MD for most of her life working as a secretary for Kraft Electronic Sales, while raising their five daughters.  She was known for her love of gardening, many stained glass art pieces, and was an accomplished seamstress.  While in Bedford she was lovingly embraced by the congregation while attending the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 9391 Lincoln Hwy, Bedford, with Pastor Steven Egbert officiating.  Friends will be received on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m., until the hour of the service at the church.
